Marchese’s was started in 1981, by Paul Marchese while
he was still at the University of Rochester pursuing a degree
in computer science. Paul saw a growing need in the area for
a real computer store. He started by offering diskettes and
other supplies and rapidly grew the business with offerings
of computers, printers, software, and other accessories.
One by one, the major manufacturers recognized the expertise,
hard work, reliability, and commitment of Marchese Computer.
By the late 1980's Marchese's was the only store in the area
to be officially authorized to sell and service IBM, Epson,
Compaq, HP, and a host of other "big names" including
much of the high-end software then available.
As their reputation and customer base grew, more staff was
added and new areas of service were explored. A continual
investment in training and education helped the company to
grow.
As local business added more and more PCs during the early
1990's, the high price, and proprietary nature, of the name
brand machines became an issue. To offer their customers both
better pricing, and more flexibility and upgradablitly, Marchese's
started to build their own custom designed systems. The MCP
brand was born and soon became a symbol of value and reliability.
As the decade progressed the internet came into it's own.
Marchese's was again one of the first to offer internet services,
hosting, web design, and integration.
Now, over two decades later, Marchese Computer is one of
the oldest computer stores in the state and offers a broad
range of computer and internet related merchandise and services.
Highly respected for their experience, expertise, quality,
and contribution to the local community, Marchese Computer
has become one of Batavia’s most successful enterprises
serving a large customer base and employing 10 full-time local
people.
The company goals have not changed much from the early days
of the business: "The company goals are simply to continue
as the area’s most complete and successful PC source
by offering an unusually high degree of expertise coupled
with the latest and best technology that the industry has
to offer."
Community involvement has always been part of what the company
is about. In addition to being a ‘hands-on’ business
owner and manager, Paul is an enthusiastic participant in
community activities. He is an active member of the Batavia
Rotary Club and has been member of the Batavia Area Jaycees.
As a member of the Stafford Country Club, Paul is an avid
golfer and frequently participates in local golfing events.
Paul often donates his time as a volunteer for charitable
events such as the local hospital’s annual auction and
serves on various local committees. Paul can also be heard
every Tuesday at 11:30 on WBTA’s ‘Computer Bits’
program. The company is often called upon to supply internships
and speakers for student career oriented programs.
Community spirit, personal concern for it's clients, and
the goal of offering the very best in products and services
have made Marchese Computer Products, Inc. the success story
it is today.
